Welcome to the  Tarrant County 9-1-1 District website. We intend to use this space on the World Wide Web to inform you of the District activities and services we provide. The District was created in 1984 to provide 9-1-1 equipment and services to all Police, Fire, and EMS Departments in Tarrant County, Irving, Grand Prairie, and DFW Airport. Today the District provides 9-1-1 service and equipment to a population base of over 1.9 million through 41 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).

In the early days of 9-1-1 in Tarrant County, we interacted with just two phone companies; Southwestern Bell (now AT&T) and GTE (now Frontier). Today, we support calls from over fifty landline companies, five wireless providers, several VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) providers, and numerous private telephone systems. In 2020, the District’s PSAPs processed over three million 9-1-1 calls, with over 88% processed from wireless callers.

We look forward to the challenges of tomorrow. Through our partnership with the Public Safety Answering Points, we will continue our mission to provide the most reliable 9-1-1 telecommunications system possible to all persons within our District.
