JOB SUMMARY:
Receives, coordinates, and disseminates information under stressful situations utilizing governmental telecommunications systems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dispatches emergency and non-emergency public service personnel; receives requests for public service assistance and incoming phone calls; completes reports; searches prisoners; enters and retrieves computer data; monitors weather conditions; performs general housekeeping and maintenance of the communications center and equipment; maintains data logs; monitors the closing and opening of streets and the turning on and off of water throughout the city; relays information to the proper authority, and performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Must be eighteen (18) years or older with a high school education or the equivalent. No prior convictions of a felony. No misdemeanor of Grade A or B within the past year. Will be required to take a polygraph examination. Must be able to work shifts and be available for emergency call out 24 hours a day. Must be able to type 35 wpm. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and perform all duties under stressful conditions. Must have TCIC/NCIC Certification, EMD Certification, and TCOLE Telecommunicator License.
