Emergency Communications Operator I

  • U.S. Citizen
  • 18 years of age at the time of appointment
  • Good moral character and the ability to pass a background investigation, psychological examination, and a medical/drug screening
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License (or the ability to obtain)
  • Ability to pass a written general knowledge exam
  • High school diploma or GED

Minimum Supervisor Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid TCOLE Intermediate Telecommunicator License (Advanced preferred)
  • Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) Certified Communications Supervisor (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain within 12 mounts of appointment.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in public safety or emergency communications or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.
  • Associate's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Safety or a related field (preferred).
